The Olympic Torch
The flames are shimmering in the sunlight
Floods of people cheer on the runners
Athletes hold the torch tightly in their sweaty hands
As the big run begins
The waterfall of fire burning in the air
is passed proudly from torch to torch
Runners wait nervously
Until it is their turn to carry the flame
Eager crowds gather along roads
Waiting for the next runner to be in sight
As a mighty sound is heard in the distance
The flame is in sight!
Wondering what will happen next
The gleaming torch is starting to get warm
As the torch runs through the town
People are following the runners to London
The flames are shimmering in the sunlight
Floods of people cheer on the runners
Athletes hold the torch tightly in their sweaty hands
As the big run begins

Burning and Bright Flames
The flicker of flame lights the torch
in Greece, Olympia
dazzling, the crisp flame burns
in the heat of the moment
The bearers cheer and wave
while the flame shimmers and shakes
Specially chosen people
hold this beautifully shaped instrument
8000 miles still burning strong
8000 holes to keep it cool
8000 bearers to keep it high
In the forest of the sky
The flicker of flame gets underway

Olympic Torch
Shining brightly
The flames get lit
The flame starts to sparkle
Flames as orange as the sun
Made from the lightest metal
The golden aluminium
8000 perforations
8000 torch bearers
Running 8000 miles
Weighing 800 grams
Ending in the evening
Starting at dawn
Third year in London
With a triangular shape
Flown from Greece
Down from Mount Olympus
Holding the torch aloft
Running on the damp tarmac
Excited crowds cheering
Arriving in London, entering the stadium
