Our Olympic Torch poems

            The Olympic Torch

8000 holes designed on the torch
for 8000 bearers
who will hold and carry every original

The golden aluminium gleams in the burning sun
As the bearers carry each torch
It must be a pleasure for all of them

Whatever the weather they still run
Getting encouraged by everyone
No plodding. Non stop they will finish their relay run

The crisp flame flickers above this stunning design
Bright colours from the flame create a lovely picture
Red, yellow and orange all combine

The 3rd time the olympics have come to London
The relay will finish in the olympic stadium
And the games will begin!

                          The Olympic Torch

Bright flames passed on from torch to torch
Gleaming, dazzling, sparkling like gold
Shimmering in the midday sun

8000 bearers, 8000 holes for one torch
It’s like a golden arm
With burning fingers

People cheering on for the torch and runner
With pounding hearts, they run for miles
Specially chosen to run and run
