The last week of half term has been really hectic with so much going on that some of us have got really confused about who is supposed to be doing what and at what time.
As well as Bike for Life training, the Life Education caravan and the book fair we have managed to fit some activities for book week. Our monster book marks can be seen on the previous post. Our final activity for book week was to make dream jars for the BFG to store his dreams in.
First of all we had to write our dream. We tried to make them as dreamlike as possible and include some strange events and people in them. Next we wrote them neatly and decorated them with metallic pens.
Now came the really fun part where we decorated the jars themselves.
We hung sequins from the inside of the jar lids so that they would turn and swing inside the jars. It was very fiddly threading the cotton through the hole in the sequin.
We also had some metallic sticky backed paper and so we used that to decorate the tops of the jar lids.
Finally we used glass markers to decorate any part of the jar that had not been covered up by the dream writing.
Here you can see some of our finished jars and their decorations.

Hi my name is Sofia
I go to New Gisborne Primary School and I am in 6B and I am 13 I was looking at your dream jars and I thought they are all great and they are really impressive. Now I have some questions to ask you
Where do you live?
What are your favourite hobbies and why?
Do you have any animals and do you like animals?
Is your school awesome?
What is your favourite colour?
What do you do at home for free time?
Love From Sofia 🙂

Hi Sophia,
Here are the answers to your questions:
I love going dancing and swimming because they keep you fit and they are really fun. I have one pet- A hamster called Nibbles and she is really cute and once she even escaped out of her ball. Our school is definitely awesome. My favourite color is peuple and I also like orange. I don’t get m,uch home time beacuse I have to go and watch my brother swim. He is sooooo good, he even swims for Leicester but he keeps getting injured beacuse he doesn’t warm up and down properly!!!
Talk to you soon

That sounds like a lot of fun. Dream jars; what a clever idea, I also like how you decided to make them because of the book the BFG. That book is a great book as well and very imaginative. What were some of the dreams you put in your jar? And are they your real dreams?
