Harvest Festival

Today was our Harvest Festival. As usual we bought in a huge amount of tins and packets for Age Uk.

We had a special Harvest Assembly that was based on the four elements of Fire, Earth, Air and Water. We had to look at Air and we wrote a poem based on If I had Wings by Pie Corbett.

This is part of what we wrote for the assembly

If I was the Wind

If I was the wind
I would scatter the microscopic brown seeds
that lay still as a scared snail not daring to leave
his shell.                                                                                              Holly

If I was the wind
I would look at the farmer scattering seeds
around the fields and then watch him sit down
to rest.                                                                                             Cameron

If I was the wind
I would touch the fingertips of the crops
and smell the magical vegetables lying
under the ground                                                                          Taylor

If I was the wind
I would play in the corn and make ripples in it
like the waves at the beach.                                                        Oliver

If I was the wind
I would touch the juicy orangesin the orchard
full of summer fruits.                                                                  Kieran

I would breathe in deeply and smell
the golden glowing wheat.                                                         Aiden

After the assembly was over, Year 5 had to load all of the Harvest gifts into the Age UK van so that it can be used to help elderly people over the coming winter.
