Today Miss Smith had a real surprise for us all. She brought in an actual olympic torch for us to look at. In assembly she told us all about it.
The torch has a perforated design to make lighter to carry. There are 8000 perforations or holes, one for each of the 8000 runners who will carry the torch. It weighs 800g so that it wasn’t too heavy for any of the runners. It is a three sided design to represent the olympic slogan of ‘Faster – Higher – Stronger’ and the three times the games have been held in London.

Hi, I’m from Mayflower Primary.
I think it’s soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing that you got to hold a real Olympic torch! Our Deputy head’s friend bought a torch in and every body in the whole school got to hold it and have a picture with it.
