Yesterday we all went to our local river, the river Soar. We saw some fish and a heron. We looked at a meander on the river and walked around it. We also looked at where the water had eroded the bank. The water was flowing really quickly and eroding the soil.
Impressively, no one fell in!
We could also see deposition which is where the mud and soil that is eroded ends up. We also thought about how the meander would eventually become an ox bow lake.
While we were there, we drew sketches of the meander and labelled them.
A lot of people were moaning about the smell because there were quite a lot of cow pats on the ground!
