This term we are looking at the work of significant 20th century artists. We began by looking at the work of Vassily Kandinsky. He is an important artist because he was really the first person to think that pictures didn’t have to be of real or imaginary things. They could just be an arrangement of lines, colours and shapes.
We looked at how he used all of those things in paintings and learned how he believed that each colour was linked to music. Kandinsky is also the favourite of Capello, the England Football manager!
Here are some of the paintings we did in the style of Kandinsky:

Wow! Your Kandinsky inspired pictures are fantastic! You have definitely taken on board Kandinsky’s style and you should be really proud of them.
We are all looking forward to visiting your blog this week and finding out about your learning.

Elise says Thank you for liking her painting. Hope says she just chose shapes that were slightly random. Shanon just chose shapes that she could think of straight away.
Kandinsky was a Russian painter. He was born in 1886.He became a painter after seeing some of Monet’s paintings. He was the first painter to do abstract paintings. He seemed to have 2 styles, one was mathematical and one was more splodgy.
