Welcome to the first blog post for this new school year. Lets hope it will be a really successful one!
We started the year by reading Wolves in the Walls by Neil Gaiman. Then we read a poem by Pie Corbett ‘Recipe to make a Wolf’. We used Pie’s poem as a model to write our own. Here are some of the poems we wrote.
Recipe to make a Wolf
Take
The skill of a bloodhound
The darkness of midnight
The wetness of a puddle
For its nose
Take
The brightness of a star
The sharpness of smashed glass
The hardness of cement
For its teeth
Take
The spikiness of a hedgehog
The roughness of a pineapple
The colour of a raincloud
For its fur
by Josh Smith
Take
The sharpness of the blade of a sword
The whiteness of a cloud
The pointiness of an arrow
And the strength of an iron bar
For her teeth
Take
The icy stare of a snake
The yellowness of a banana
The speed of a cheatah running
And the slits of Voldemort’s nose
For her eyes
Take
The whining of children when they don’t get their own way
The growling of a dog that’s been hurt
The deep groan of an angry bear
And the coldness of Arctic Ice
For her voice
By Elise and Hope
Take
The speed of the rushing wind
The sway of an elephant’s trunk
For her tail
Take
The speed of a leopard’s legs
The strength of iron
For her legs
Take
The yellowness of the bright sun
The quickness of the lightning
For her eyes
Take
The sharpness of a shark’s tooth
The whiteness of the shining snow
For her claws
Yasmin
Take
The lash of a whip
The blade of a knife
The length of a radio antennae
For his tail
Take
The view of an eagle
The colour of burnt toast
And the glare of mist
For his eyes
Take
The power of a rhino’s charge
The tip of a hook
And the colour of lava
For his teeth
Take
The spikes of a hedgehog
The greyness of a stone
And the softness of a pillow
For his fur
Alfie
