We have looked at poetry written by Miroslav Holub. We read two of his poems, ‘The Door’ and ‘A Boy’s Head’. We used his poems as models to write our own. They’re awesome and fantastic.
Joe wrote his poem about a boy’s heart. The head teacher liked it so much that Joe got a HeadTeacher’s award and his poem is going on display in the hall. We hope you all like it as well.
A boys heart
In my heart loves strikes,
it’s a hobby,
for doing away with evil,
And in my heart there is a soul,
but my love comes first,
as my heart pumps,
but my heart has entirely changed,
my entirely new soul,
my entirely new peace,
my love is lovely,
There are veins,
that keep my heart alive,
There’s a object I love in my heart,
there’s me in my heart,
there’s love for my family,
I believe my heart,
can’t ever be broken,
never ever ever,
There is a solemn promise,
that no ones heart will be broken,
and even people who have passed away have a heart.

Well done Joe – fantastic writing! Perhaps you could post a photo of the poem when it is displayed in all it’s glory?

I can fully understand why this poem won a Headteacher’s award. There is a combination of well chosen vocabulary and very well chosen phrases which create a lovely rhythm.
My favourite is:
There’s a object I love in my heart,
there’s me in my heart,
there’s love for my family,
